Hi all,

My name is Sally and my girlfriend and I are trying to raise money to cover our little cat's recent medical expenses.

Marlo is the absolute light of our lives, and she is her brother Shrimp's favorite thing in the entire world. We rescued her from the AWA last Spring after falling for her at first sight. Despite all she was been through in her young life (being found in the woods, needing to get her left eye removed due to compression from a polyp, etc) she is the most playful, loving, and entertaining cat you will ever meet. I have never seen a creature that is more grateful to be alive than our little Marlo.

Unfortunately, Marlo is not the healthiest little lady. Over the past 2 months, we have had several health scares that have significantly drained my savings. For some context, I am a cell and molecular biology PhD student and I have also been battling my own cancer over the past 2 years so money is usually tight but Marlo's emergencies have really pushed things to the limit.

In February 2026, my girlfriend noted that Marlo was breathing louder and louder and snoring more than normal (she had always snored but not this loud)! We took her to the vet and they sedated her and found and removed a marble-sized polyp in the back of her throat. She seemed SO much better with that giant thing not in her way anymore, but her good health was not long-lasting.

2 weeks ago, Marlo was acting very ill and then went into respiratory distress. We rushed her to the vet and they did an emergency ultrasound and then chest x-ray, and Marlo was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia. She is doing much better now (on a lotttt of antibiotics) but we really thought she wasn't going to make it for a couple days there. We are so so glad she has pulled through, but the vet bills were a huge unexpected expense. Further, she is supposed to get a follow up chest x-ray this week to ensure the pneumonia is cleared but I need to raise money to be able to afford that. I have attached the invoices below (please note that the amount I am trying to raise does not include her vaccines and things that I budgeted for when adopting her!!)

I know that times are insanely hard right now, but I wanted to at least try and get some help with taking care of Marlo. If you can't donate, I would really appreciate if you could share this with someone who would be interested in helping.
