Help with Marlei's Recovery

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Heather and I am fundraising for Marlei and her parents, Allen and Anna! Allen, Anna, and Marlei were at the dog park with Lex on Friday evening, July 23rd when another dog ran at Anna from behind while she was carrying Marlei. Anna, while holding Marlei was thrown into the air and tried to break their fall as much as possible. Anna sustained a broken elbow while trying to catch herself and Marlei from the fall. Marlei suffered trauma to her head on impact and was rushed to the emergency room. I've posted the below updates that Allen and Anna have shared as to Marlei's condition and how she is progressing at this time. We will continue to update everyone here as updates are available.

As you read the below updates, you will see that Allen and Anna are now in Cincinnati, OH to provide Marlei with the care she needs to recover and heal. Allen will quickly exhaust his PTO time and then will be taking unpaid FMLA coverage to care for both Marlei and Anna while they recover. First and foremost, we ask that you please continue to pray for Marlei's full recovery as well as Anna's. ❤❤ I am asking that if you are able to and if you find it in your heart that you might donate to help with Allen and Anna's expenses while they are in Cincinnati and unable to work while Marlei and Anna recover. At this time, we do not have an estimate of how long they will have to stay at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. We greatly appreciate all the prayers, love, and support for Marlei, Anna, and Allen through this unfortunate emergency. ❤❤❤

Much love! ❤

Update#1-

We appreciate all the support and prayers from all of you guys. The support has been completely overwhelming for our daughter. We ask you to continue prayer and keeps us in your thoughts. ❤️❤️❤️

Anna and Marlei had an unforeseen fall Friday and sustained some serious injury. Marlei suffered trauma to her head on impact and was rushed to the emergency room, along with my wife that broke her arm.

Our daughter fractured a segment of her skull, which caused bleeding in her head. She’s been temporarily put on a ventilator and sedated. Marlei had enough blood loss involved in the head that she needed a blood transfusion. We’ve had several CT scans throughout this duration that have shown bleeding, but nothing internal to the brain (great news.) She did however show a small bruise to her brain, but it hasn’t altered the path of recovery. Marlei has been under constant supervision in trauma since this has happened and with great care of some loving professionals.

Ultimately, we have a plan of action which involves her continuation of progress and no more bleeds with imaging. We currently await another CT this morning to see where her progress lies. Please, pray for our child’s scan and that we can transfer her over to Women’s and Children’s within reasonable measure.

Marlei, my sweet baby, you’re doing great and we are so proud of your fight. I have seen your determination and Gods work amongst all of this. We are headed in the right direction, you’re destined for greatness.

Update #2-

Earlier yesterday morning, Marlei had her most current CT scan. The majority of bleeding had remained the same, no better no worse. They did see what they believe to be a section of bruising of the brain and with that some swelling. Also, with the continuation of swelling in her head, pressure has pushed marginally on the 4th ventricle of her brain. It had raised some concerns with slight shrinkage of this and the possibility of drainage issues, but it’s just being monitored.

With these things being said, we decided with the Neurosurgeons of General/ Women’s and children’s to make a decision to move her to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The decision was based solely on precautionary measures and what we felt best for our baby.

We arrived here around 6:30 pm yesterday evening and have been situated into the pediatric intensive care unit. She’s under detailed observation of potential seizures, along with medication just in case. She’s showed no visual signs of them thus far. All vitals have been super consistent and she’s been able to rest comfortably under sedation/ pain medication/ other IV fluids.

Today we are awaiting for an MRI for more details on her sustained injury and a necessary action plan.

We are in the best of hands here and I have all confidence in this staff. God has continued to bless us with her stability and ability to comfort her. Marlei has been actively moving her arms, legs, and we had some time holding her hands. She has quite the grip and knows when we speak with her. I’m so proud of this girl and the positives we have seen. God is good!

We can’t thank you guys enough for all of the support and offerings of help. Please continue the prayers and spread healing words for our daughter. We love you all so much. ❤️❤️❤️. We love you, Marlei!
