Help with Marcel's Funeral & Funds for His Son

My name is Maura White and I am fundraising on behalf of the family of Jose Marcelino Castillo-Pacheco who tragically drowned on Saturday, July 10th, while on a family camping trip to Oxbow Park. I have permission from the family to initiate this Go Fund Me effort. Marcel has now gone home to be with the Lord.

Marcel, who was only 33 years old and known for his energetic zest for life, loved spending time with his son Knud and family, gardening, skateboarding, laughing with friends, and trying new adventures.  He moved from Dzan, Mexico to make a better life for himself and worked hard to help support his family. Whether it was spending time at the Oregon Coast with his mom, wife and his son, or trying out new plant seedlings for his ever-growing garden, Marcel always put full effort into it. When Marcel found out he was going to be a father, he beamed with pride and told everyone around him. His son shares his birthday - September 29th. Watching Knud and Marcel together was like watching two best buddies who speak their own language. Knud loved every minute he was able to hang out with his dad.

Tragically, Knud was on shore watching as his mom Michele, park rangers and a bystander tried to save Marcel and breathe life back into him. Knud is blessed to have many family and friends who will surround him with love and support in the years to come, however, at this time there are memorial and funeral costs in addition to future financial support for Knud as Marcel's widow moves on to parent him alone. Marcel will forever be in everyone's heart. Marcel estará siempre en el corazón de todos.

Marcel is survived by his mother Sofia Pacheco, brothers Elmer, Antonio and Oscar,  8-year old son Knud, and his wife and love Michele Smith. Thank you to everyone who has already helped with support.
