Help with major medical for Kevin Largent

Hello everyone,

My name is Adam Lamb some of you know me as Joe, I’m the owner of North Texas Pecan and Friday was an unfortunate day for an event we never hope to hear or get a call about. Kevin Largent, 21 years of age. An employee of North Texas Pecan and close family friend was injured on a tractor vs vehicle collision Friday around 4:15pm. He was on the hwy 114 in the paradise / bridgeport area heading to the field to join up with our crew at a new orchard we were set to harvest.
The accident happened when Kevin was making a left turn and a vehicle behind Kevin failed to slow down or yield when Kevin was making the turn. Kevin is still in ICU and has brain swelling, and is not able to tell his side of the story of what exactly happened but there was no skid marks showing an immediate stop to avoid the tractor but the driver in the small car claims to have swerved wide to miss the tractor as he was making a turn. Never the less the tractor made contact to the passenger front side of the car and drug down the side to the rear quarter panel, taking the rear door with it. The tractor then slid on the side ejecting Kevin from the seat and jacked knifed in the opposing lane bar ditch. Upon arrival Kevin had been found pinned under the harvester tow bar keeping him from escaping when a DPS officer arrived on scene. DPS officer Gomez was fortunate to have a floor jack to lift the harvester off of Kevins legs allowing him to be pulled out. EMS was then on scene to put him on a stretcher and was taken to Denton trauma facility to monitor his brain bleed and check for broken bones.

After 18 hours of updates he is still in ICU and being monitored. He is stable with some brain swelling, he was assumed to have multiple broken bones by EMS but when X-rays were taken it was then confirmed he did NOT have any broken bones in his body. With 1 bit of good news, the battle continues to keep the brain from swelling and monitoring him closely as he recovers. He is alert and using motor skills on command. Toes can move and eyes can blink. This is the most up to date information we have on him and will keep this updated as things progress. We feel that he will have a hard but successful road to recovery and hope he regains the ability to live and be normal once again. Kevin nor north Texas pecan has insurance for such an event and we know how astronomical going to the hospital is and we’d like to set this page up to help in anyway we can to soften the impact of what may arise.

We also want to state that the highways we drive today are very unforgiving and hostile. People are always in a hurry and with farm equipment in Texas we have the right away and want everyone to try and respect what farmers do for the country and care a little more when you meet a tractor on a highway.

Please help donate to the cause in anyway you feel you can and if nothing please keep him in your prayers. Thank you for reading!
