Help with Lucy’s medical expenses

Hi, my name is Lucy and I’m a three year old, three (3) legged dog of mix breed (Portuguese Podango and Shih Tzu). My right front leg was already amputated before I was adopted last November by my forever momma (Katie).

Last Wednesday, June 23rd 2021, I thought I could stop a car; I was so very wrong!

I’m currently hospitalized at MedVet and I’ve had three surgeries: 1.) abdominal wall hernia repair (he hit me so hard my intestines popped); 2.) my left hip bone had to be forced back in place; and 3.) right side pelvic bone had to be screwed to my spine. I think it’s going to be really hard walking for a really long time, at least while my hind legs heal. Thankfully, my one remaining front leg is strong.

I was on oxygen but have since been taken off. It’s a little hard breathing because of the many lung contusions. I have lots of internal bruising.

I also had a catheter but I kept peeing it out and eventually they stopped trying to reinsert it.

They’re giving me pain medicine and antibiotics via IV fluids and monitoring me 24/7.

The doctors have done their best to put me back together. Now I’m told it’s up to me to get better.

The “low end” down payment “deposit” needed prior to surgery was over $8,000 but my momma’s charge card maxed out at $7,570.29 and they accepted that amount for their “deposit”. But I think the final cost will be somewhere between $9,000 and $10,000. We’re going to need help (or a miracle) to pay the medical expenses. A friend suggested we set up a go fund me page.
