A precious family in our Mt Laurel / Dunavant Valley / Chelsea community has lost a very loved and young member of their family who can only be described as a big dose of LOVE to her siblings. This Go Fund Me has been set up to help the family pay for the unexpected funeral expenses and summer childcare expenses for their special needs child.

Juana ("Deya") Rincon Ramirez, a 2021 graduate of Chelsea High School, passed away May 4th, 2024 after a two week battle with bacterial pneumonia at UAB Hospital. She was heavily involved with the caregiving of her little sister Jackie Lopez Ramirez, now a 6th grader at Oak Mountain Middle School, and her little brother Ulises Lopez Ramirez, a special needs student in third grade at Mt. Laurel Elementary.

To her family, Deya meant EVERYTHING. She sat in the carpool lines for the last few years and happily volunteered to chaperone field trips. Deya got the kids to cheer practices and doctor's appointments when her parents were at work. She bought clothes for Jackie with her own paychecks, and took care of Ulises on the weekends and evenings and summers when Ramona and Santos were working jobs for their small business, Santos Landscaping. Ramona also works full-time for Hanna's Garden Shop, which she often times leaves there when she closes to go to a customer's house to complete plantings after work. She will dearly miss having her daughter Deya there to help out with the kids while she helps earn money for the family to make ends meet.

Any donations will be helpful for this family to get through the summer and figure out how to do life without Deya. It will be a huge challenge, but with the help of the community I know we can make a difference in giving them a helping hand while their family heals from the loss of their beautiful daughter who loved Jackie and Ulisses as if they were her own children.
