I’m Lauren and at 37 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. If you ask me, I’d say I’ve lived my life as a “yes” person. Life is too short. I can be spontaneous and book a solo trip 2 weeks before I’m leaving. If a friend needs me, I’m always a yes. At work, I’ll say yes and take on too many responsibilities.

Cancer is not something I said yes to. I wasn’t given a choice. It came out of nowhere and I’ve had to face it head on, fight, and be my own advocate. I don’t have any family history of breast cancer, and I’ve tested negative for every cancer-related genetic mutation, so this truly was an unexpected and unwanted surprise. The stress and anxiety I’ve felt this year is unimaginable.

I’ve created this fundraiser because every little bit will help me in this fight. I have treatments, supplements, 10 years of medications and a lifetime of doctors appointments. Northside Financial Assistance has helped me tremendously, but it’s not enough!
