Kobe Bryant came into my life in the most unexpected way. I found him as a tiny kitten near the 145th Street train station, meowing next to a can of food. He was lost and scared, and when I picked him up, he immediately snuggled under my coat. Even though I was late for work, I knew I had to help him. When I got home, I noticed his whiskers were singed, a sign that he had been through something traumatic. From that moment, I decided to keep him, and I instantly fell in love with this sweet tuxedo cat with three dots on his nose—he looked like he had a little black Valentine on his face.
Kobe was my companion for 19 wonderful years. He brought so much joy and comfort into my life, always there with his gentle presence. Saying goodbye to him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. He was in pain, and I couldn’t let him suffer, so I made the difficult decision to have him euthanized. The vet bill for his final care, including the placement of the catheter, euthanasia, and cremation, was an unexpected expense. I had to put it on my credit card, and with a new job starting soon, I simply can’t afford this right now.
If you’re able to help, even a little, it would mean the world to me. Kobe was more than just a pet—he was family. Your support would help me honor his memory and get through this difficult time. Thank you so much for reading and for any kindness you can offer.
