Help With Kimmy's Emergency Recovery Fund

Donation protected

On March 15th while returning home from a fun play day at the park with her doggy daddy, my 5yr old daughter and myself, our Kimmy was hit by a truck in front of our home. Although she survived being ran over twice by the truck she suffered severe injuries. As she hobbled back to safety it was clear to see that the skin that covered her back, chest and abdomen were hanging off of her and my daughter and I were able to see right inside of her body. She was basically skinned alive and her front leg was dangling at her side. We wrapped her in a towel and rushed her to the Animal Hospital ER.

Once there they informed us that she was in critical condition and in order to start working on her we would need a down payment of $5,000 right away. As the night went on the examination showed that she would need multiple surgeries on top of emergency care for broken bones, internal bleeding, and the care of the massive wo
und (her skin hanging off... the official term is called degloving).

Thankfully the internal bleeding stopped on it's own. After 24 hours of round the clock care and pain medications, she was stable enough to have her first surgery to fix her front leg and for the surgeon to examine the extent of the  wound (she was in too much pain for this to happen while being awake). The skin on her right side from her shoulder blade to her rear and from the top left side of h
er back to underneath the right side of  her abdomen are completely seperated from her body. The doctors are concerned about infection, blood/ fluid loss  as well as if the skin is alive.

They were hesitant to close her up/ attach the skin back because of its viability. She is currently loosely stitched up and needs a few days to determine if the skin still has a blood supply.  Kimmy has currently been hospitalized for 6 days and although still in critical condition she is stable, the bill is already over $18,000. The doctors say she has a long road ahead of her and  will be there for at least a week and needs a blood transfusion and  more surgery. She will also need continued care even after coming back home for the wound.

Kimmy is more then a dog to our family she is a child to me and a sister/ best friend to my 5 yr old daughter. 6yrs ago I assisted in her birth as I own both her mother and father, I can't imagine losing her to this. Though this was an extremely traumatic experience for all involved,  I am thankful she survived and is still fighting for her life.  We would truly appreciate any amount in donations to assist in paying for her treatment, and ask that you please share this post... most of all please keep us in your prayers!
