Kevin Tubbs Care and Love

Hi there friends and family, my dad Kevin Tubbs suffered a stroke on Saturday 3/11. He is in Phuket, Thailand on a trip with his wife Darsey.

 He got very nauseated during breakfast on Saturday, and Darsey noticed he was clammy and pale. They called an ambulance to the hotel, had a transfer to another ambulance en route to the hospital, and landed in the ICU. He has been undergoing life saving stroke treatments, connected to a million machines, minimally coherent, but responsive. 

 Larsen Tubbs and I have been on facetime and phone calls with his wife as often as possible since then, and researching treatment and facility options. We are likely looking at a month or more of dad in Thailand in the hospital receiving care. They want payment up front for treatment, so Larsen, myself and Darsey are scrambling to put together money and fundraise as much as we can as fast as we can so we can pay for his treatments as they need to happen. 

 He has developed some pneumonia, so they put him on a higher level of oxygen. He is somewhat responsive, he recognizes me and larsen and everyone so far. I can get him to flip me the bird a little bit, if you know him well you know that’s promising. There are a lot of ways to say ‘I love you.’

 The hospital he’s currently at is posing enough issues in care and communication to be stressful for everyone involved, so we are working on getting him transferred to a better hospital, which will cost $30-45k. We’re being told that money might get him through a few days there, if he doesn’t have to have brain surgery…    

This money will help us pay for his treatment in the hospital, his stroke rehabilitation program once we get him out of the hospital, flights and accommodations to get him home, and other necessities on his long road to recovery.
