Help with Kenji's Vet Care

I've been best friends with Bryan for seventeen years, and he has been wanting a dog of his own since the day I met him.
Kenji came into Bryan's life in June 2017, and in terrible condition. Sadly, Kenji's previous person was badly neglectful and left Kenji in a small crate almost constantly. He needed a second chance. He needed someone to love him.
Kenji was emaciated and his bones were showing through his patchy coat. His ears were nearly hairless, but he was so loving despite his condition and the fact that his past human had let him down.
Bryan and Kenji have been inseparable ever since. Two happy and healthy years later, I think he's the best friend Bryan wanted and more.
Many of you know Kenji from Peace of Mind Dog Rescue, where Bryan is the Adoptions Coordinator. Kenji is our famous "office greeter" and "tester" dog - he has many, many friends (humans and dogs alike). He's Bryan's constant sidekick.
Kenji is facing a difficult medical diagnosis and he needs our help. Last week Bryan rushed him to the vet because he was having difficulty breathing, and it turned out he had fluid in his lungs. The fluid was removed by his regular vet, and now he has seen a cardiologist and an internal medicine specialist to figure out why fluid is building up in his lungs, and what can be done about it. The possible diagnoses range from lymphoma (cancer) to a tick borne disease to a fungal infection.
The expenses are already over $3,500.
The vets still haven't figured out exactly what's happening but Bryan is committed to helping his best friend. He is currently being seen at Pet Specialists of Monterey and has a full day of tests ahead of him.
Bryan is racking up debt to take care of Kenji, and has graciously agreed to let me reach out to you for help.
