5/22/21 - Some additional info: Because my mom is not able to  do anything on her computer yet, your contributions will initially transfer to my account. Then, I will send the money directly to Dave & Kathy. This site is designed for electronic transfers, but doesn't really  address getting funds to people that are incapacitated or unable to manage it online. My mom has always handled computer stuff for her household; David is out of the loop on PC stuff. If you have any questions, by all means let me know.

5/16/21 - Kathy is returning home today, where she will finally be in the comfort of her cozy home, and with her beloved David and kitties. Two weeks in the hospital is too long.

The stroke has zapped her of all her energy. She spends most of her time sleeping, or quietly listening with her eyes closed. The Sweet family home has stairs to enter, and a staircase to go down to the only shower in the home. She is using a walker and at this point needs someone assisting her anytime she needs to move anywhere. This is all in addition to the 2.5 year battle she continues to wage against her cancer.

David has been and continues to be her 24/7 caregiver. Tomorrow an Occupational Therapist is coming to assess their home to make recommendations for needed modifications. These will have costs associated with them. They also have incurred major expenses with the hospital stay and therapies. Medicare only goes so far, and she will need to continue physical and occupational therapy beyond what Medicare covers. Any assistance will go directly to David and Kathy for her ongoing care. My moms 75th bday is coming up on 7/2 followed by David’s 78th on 7/17. This fund is to try and lessen the anxiety of unexpected bills and expenses, when they don’t have regular income. 

As many of you know well, they have always been givers of anything anyone needs. It is very hard for them to be on the receiving side.  They don’t ever ask for assistance. This is a time in their lives when I am asking on their behalf.
