Hello Friends of Kali,
In September of 2019 we found out that Kali has a digestive disorder, likely a gastrointestinal one. She has required expensive anti-nausea medications to keep her feeling well. Those medications are over $200 per month, and that's from the discount distributor website. She has also seen specialty internist vets to try to assess, diagnose, and treat her condition and had blood work and imaging. It is likely that she has inflammatory bowel disease, but that is not confirmed at this point. Currently we are trying her second diet to see if that will be enough to help her symptoms so she can be off the anti-nausea meds. But in the meantime, and until we find a solution, she needs them to feel like her usual happy self. I need some help paying for the medications over the next few months as well as paying off some of the vet vet bills I have paid for via Care Credit. At this point I don't need a specific amount of money at a certain time, just whatever money I can raise over the next few months will help with the costs.
For those of you who may not have met me, or don't know my history with Kali, she and I were best friends and went on hikes together almost every week starting in the summer of 2016. I have been honored to be her new mama since Nia passed away and left her to me. Kali brings me such joy every day, and I would do anything possible to keep her happy and healthy. So I am reaching out to the people who know what a special pup she is for help.
Treatment Plan Going Forward:
If her current diet doesn't help, then our next treatment steps are to see a holistic vet who specializes in diets for dogs with intestinal disorders, and eventually, possibly expensive scoping which is the only way to confirm a diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease. If we do the scoping I would do an update to the fundraiser, I'm not raising money for that unless we decide to proceed with it.
From the bottom of both my and Kali's hearts, thank you so much for your support!
Love,
Jenn
