Help the Mortensen Family During This Challenging Time
Hi, my name is Lauren, and I’m reaching out to share the story of my husband, Josh Mortensen. Josh is 34 years old, and we have two beautiful children, ages 8 and 6. For the past year and a half, Josh has been battling cancer, and for the last month and a half, he’s been in the hospital. In two weeks, he is scheduled for a major surgery that will require a long recovery.
This has placed a significant burden on our finances. Josh is currently on disability, but it only covers a fraction of his usual paycheck. I am also on disability and actively looking for a job, but with the circumstances, things have been incredibly tight.
Up until now, we haven’t gone public with Josh’s cancer journey, but at this point, we are asking for support. We don’t have a local support system, and our family lives four or more hours away in San Antonio, Houston, and Louisiana.
Any help would mean so much to us—whether that’s a financial contribution or a prayer. We truly believe in the power of prayer, and if you can’t help financially, a share of this page would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support, in any form, makes a world of difference during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Lauren Mortensen

( josh is now out of surgery and in recovery ❤️ he had a long 9 procedure. He has a lot of post op recovery in icu. Possibly 3 weeks. Going from there we will possibly be getting more chemotherapy, physical therapy and lots of hope to go home.)
thank you all and please still continue to pray for fast recovery! Donating isn’t required but is helping our family in this time that josh can’t work. ❤️
(( UPDATE!)) (Josh is going home today Sunday may 4th. It’s been 3 months in the hospital with cancer treatments, life changing surgery, and what the drs say is that all cancer is gone!!! We’re so blessed and grateful for everything! God is good! Thank you for all the love support, prayers anything! So far Josh coming home he still won’t be able to work so I’m asking for a little more donation help throughout this time until he can work again, possibly august.)( as I’m currently looking for a substitute teacher position at the kids school I’m so far doing training and will hopefully be on board come fall! ) Josh’s recovery will be extremely hard with the 15 stairs we have in our house. He will be with a walker and can’t drive so again anyway donations are very much appreciated and we love and thank everyone! Remember that we have Venmo, cashapp and PayPal if that’s a better option ❤️ update pics once home and comfortable.
((UPDATE)) Josh has been home sunday 05/06/25 and this Sunday 06/08/25 will be one month since he’s been home. Things are going great with his swelling, movement and making sure his medicine is taken on time. As far as getting stronger and more stamina he’s needed more than just home health visits once a week. Physically therapy may be needed soon.. he still can’t drive and can’t go down our stairs as often as I do. He’s going to keep having scans and bloodwork done every two months to keep up with everything. He has long term disability until august. We’re hoping he can work by then.
I’ll continue to update once a month.
Thank you everyone ❤️
