Hi my name is Lila, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my best friend Jordyn who has been admitted to the hospital this week for an emergency open-heart surgery.
Jordyn went to the hospital on Monday for an ultrasound of their heart after experiencing some symptoms of unknown cause. This resulted in a direct admission to the hospital after discovering a tumor in their heart that is blocking Jordyn’s blood flow.
Jordyn will be receiving an emergency open-heart surgery on Wednesday February 25th, to remove the tumor and a possible mitral valve replacement.
Jordyn lives outside of San Francisco with their partner Shane, while finishing their last few months of residency in a pharmacy program specializing in HIV care. They are incredibly passionate about serving marginalized populations in their work, and serving their community.
This scary health set back is going to result in an ICU stay and at least 6-12 weeks of recovery and intensive physical therapy for Jordyn- putting some changes onto their residency and work situation as well.
Their partner, Shane has to take some time off work in order to care for Jordyn full-time at the beginning of their recovery. My friend’s savings are going to be quickly depleted by this emergency, and they need their community’s support right now to help cover not only the influx of hospital bills, but basic groceries and rent for the next few months as they navigate this scary situation.
Jordyn is one of the kindest people I know, and truly has such a heart for caring for others.
Please help us make sure their finances are taken care of, so that they can just focus on recovery and healing.
We are aiming to raise $10,000 total to help them cover the new medical bills, and remove the stress of rent and food during their recovery.
We may not be able to hit that amount, but every dollar counts and we are thankful for any bit you are able to contribute.
If you aren’t able to contribute, we would appreciate it if you would consider sharing this fundraiser so it can reach more people capable of helping our friends.
Thank you for helping us support them. — Lila
