Help with John MaGill & families Medical Expenses

John MaGill is mine and Shane’s father. He has been through a lot in the past 3 weeks. It all started with a fall from a small step ladder. He fell about a foot. Later that week, he was having pain in his stomach. He scheduled a doctor appointment. The doctor did an x-ray, she called my dad before leaving Hornell and told him to go directly to the Emergency Room for a CT scan. They saw something that concerned them around the bowel in the aortic artery. They transferred him to Strong. Upon getting there, he was seen by a vascular surgeon, who at that point said they had to do surgery. He had a blockage in that artery and that it had cut off blood flow to his bowel. This was a 4–6-hour surgery. Best case was to put a stint in, worse case was a bypass. We waited and he ended up having the bypass surgery, which lasted more than 6 hours. The Dr. said that by the time most people get to her with this type of diagnosis they are too late. She also said that he was very lucky. We were so happy that he had done well. The hospital at the time would only allow two designated people to visit – only 1 per day for 4 hours. My brother Shane went up and saw him, the next day I did. When I was there, he started sweating and couldn’t breathe. They had to put him back on the vent. He had fluid around his lungs and he had aspirated. After that it has been one thing after another. Fluid around lungs, Pneumonia, bleeding into his stomach, C-diff infection, exposure to covid, trouble with swallowing so to not aspirate. Now 3 weeks in and he is struggling to eat and getting the nutrition that he needs. If he continues to not be able to swallow, he is going to have a feeding tube. My brother and I stayed up here at first, now my mom is staying with me while I visit my dad on a daily basis. Rules have changed and now only 1 designated person can visit him daily for 4 hours and my mom is not able to go into the hospital because she can’t wear the masks due to a medical issue. If I couldn’t see him on a daily basis, I feel he would be in a much darker place. We live over an hour away and I don’t drive so this is where I need to be and we are not sure how long this will be. My parents or myself don’t ask for help, but this time we surely could use some. Your help and support would be extremely appreciated. The expenses are growing and then once he gets out, the medical bills will be overwhelming.
