Help with Jessica's Emergency Medical Costs

10 Days ago she contracted COVID-19.  Treatment for COVID-19 in Brazil is very minimal, she was given a pain reliever and was instructed to stay home to wait out the virus.

Two days ago, Jessica suffered a grand mal seizure. The event that has been initially diagnosed as a stroke which, unfortunately, some COVID-19 patients do experience.

She was rushed to the local hospital. After 5 hours of receiving no care other than the initial diagnosis, no further care was given to her. The problem is that the Brazilian health care system refused to approve the necessary CT Scan on her, because she has COVID-19.

Jessica's family did the only thing they could have done at a moment like this, they removed her from the public health care system and transported her by car, not ambulance, to a private pay hospital for evaluation, diagnosis, scans and treatment. This was the only thing they could do to save her life.

As you may be aware, in Brazil the family must pay up front for medical treatment before any action is taken.

The family was able to amass the initial funds necessary to have an initial treatment done. But now, they have exhausted their funds and she still needs 2 MRIs, blood work and an electroencephalogram (EEG), medication and after care.

Jessica’s family is collecting funds to begin her scans so that treatment can begin. Currently, this is the only way for her to receive treatment, and she is not in a condition that will allow travel back to the United States. Please help with whatever you can.

Jessica is a sweet, caring girl who had to overcome a lot since she was born.

At first, she was diagnosed with autism, and a severe scoliosis which left her with one shoulder visibly higher than the other. She endured a long and painful treatment for her scoliosis that required her to use a body brace for years.

Besides the pain, she faced severe school bullying. She bravely faced the bullies until she couldn’t any longer, at which point she decided to get a GED instead of going to high school.

By this time, Jessica received another devastating diagnosis: Hidradenitis Suppurativa. A rare, painful and chronic skin condition that has been debilitating at times.

However, despite everything that life has thrown at Jessica she has managed to stay a positive and energetic person who brings happiness and blessing to the hearts of everyone she connects with. She is a joy to all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

She worked as a cashier for Publix Supermarkets for 3 years, never missing a day of work. Everyone loves Jessica. She is one of those souls that will humble and inspire you at the same time.

Please share Jessica’s story.

The family will be forever grateful for your help.
