Hello, my name is Nicole Walker and I am writing this on behalf of my mom, Barbara Caserman. I am from San Diego and my mom lives in Paulden, Arizona.
Recently, my stepdad John (JC), was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called AML: Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Currently, he is receiving treatment in the Phoenix area and is doing quite well so far. Unfortunately, the hospital stay is lengthy and after he goes into remission (hopefully) he will need to stay for up to four months for additional treatments and a bone marrow transplant. The hospital is two hours away from my parent's home. My mom will need to rent a home near the hospital for a 3 to 4 month stay in order to support John during his extended treatment. She will be paying their mortgage at the same time and will also need to have her horses boarded and dogs watched. Needless to say, this will cost her quite a bit of money.
Any donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly towards my mom's stay near the hospital and will also help pay for her animals to be cared for while she is gone. I will be going out to help as often as possible, but I cannot be there long term due to work obligations.
As mentioned, John's treatment will include a bone marrow transplant. This is a procedure that depends on the availability of donors. If you’re able, please consider joining the bone marrow donor registry. It’s free and can help save someone’s life. Find more information here: https://bethematch.org
