Help with hospital bills and being out of work

I am starting this on behalf of my sweet husband, Keenan. I don’t even know where to begin, but he has been through so much! From being diagnosed with cancer a month after we were married, chemo, radiation, making a comeback to full duty as a police sergeant, to now. Keenan has been with the Brighton Police Department for 25 years. He has always been on the other side and helping others. 

 

Keenan spent over 8 hours under the knife on September 22nd for his Crohns (and needed 4 units of blood), followed by another 4+ hours of emergency surgery the following day for internal bleeding. After a few days in the hospital, I finally got to take him home. He had several drains and other things attached to his body. He wasn’t even hime a week and was having a ton of pain, which led to us taking him back to the hospital, a round of tests, another CT scan, and being admitted for a 7mm kidney stone. He had surgery on October 7th to remove that stone (along with several others), and place a stent. Again, he was feeling better so I took him home. Same story, no relief from the pain, his doctor wanted us to come in, he had another CT, and they admitted him for an abscess. He had surgery on October 13th to drain it. The day after that, they put in a PICC line and a wound vac.

 

Keenan still has another surgery coming up on October 25th to make sure they got all of the kidney stones, and remove the stent.

 

I have had to take time off work to be with my husband, take him to and from appointments, and be there for him while he’s in the hospital (which is down at Sky Ridge, an hour from our house). His GI doctor and surgeon are at this hospital and they are amazing, which is why we choose to make the drive. I am out of PTO, and I only work part time so it’s not compensated through work. This has been very stressful on both of us and our 4 boys. We are both set to go back to work on November 10th. This is if he can make it back by then.

 

Needless to say, it’s been a long and bumpy ride. I’m just asking (and for those of you that know me, I hate asking for help), for a little help during this difficult time for us. Thank you to everyone that has seen us through this difficult time! We love you!
