On June 15, 2021 the Wilson family experienced one of the scariest things when Matt had a stroke that has had him hospitalized and fighting since that day. If you have followed Kris’s page since that day, you know that for every day there was hope, two days would follow with complications. Recovering from a stroke is a long, arduous task not only for the individual, but also for the family providing support. Kris is a kind, humble person, so when asked how her community could support her this was her response:

“I can’t seem to catch my breath or keep any train of thought longer than a few seconds while sprinting between dealing with his chaos and still being present for Madi. I do know I need Matt to get better and Madi not to fall apart under the weight of all this stress and uncertainty. “

Kris shared she had just made an employment change when this happened and had to go on FMLA at the start of her new job. They are down to one income and are uncertain of when Matt will be able to return to work. In addition, he is currently in a facility for rehabilitation and Kris is uncertain what the cost for home health will be. She feels safe that Matt is being taken care of at the facility, but is anxious about what his care will require when he comes home, despite the family feeling separated right now.
