FEBRUARY 2026 UPDATE:
Donna is back in the hospital. She has had a series of hemorrhagic strokes due to either high blood pressure or amyloid angiopathy. Her daughter Shannon had taken the last 3 months off to care for her 27/7. Shannon returned to work on February 4th having exhausted all of her paid leave options through her employer and the State of Oregon. We have a care plan in place for once she is stable again, but in the meantime we are going to be short about 5k in income this month. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
On September 19th,2025 my mom Donna R Blue suffered a stroke. She has been in the hospital for 2 weeks getting intensive speech, occupational, and physical therapy. The stroke is affecting her speech and cognitive abilities the most. She is still strong and physically able to walk and move her whole body.
She is coming home to the house we have been living in together on October 3rd. I am going to take a leave of absence from my job to be her caregiver. She will need home health and all three kinds if therapy for the next 6-12 months.
I am extremely committed and blessed to be able to help her recuperate. Currently she cannot remember any of her information to be able to pay her bills. We are working on that, but we could really use some financial support while we navigate this whole new way of life.
My goal is to keep her moving, and physically strong, while her brain heals. I have been researching a lot of different modalities that won't be covered by her insurance. I would like to really be focused on her and not worried about how we are going to keep paying the bills. I am going to be receiving a portion of my salary through paid leave, but it will only be enough to cover our bills.
I am so thankful that my mother has a huge community of friends and family that are praying for her recovery. We greatly appreciate the many gifts we have received thus far. In addition to this GFM fundraiser she has an Amazon wish list. We also have the ability to take Venmo and PayPal donations. Please contact Shannon Flowerday (her only child) for more information. ❤️
