Help with Gumby's Medical Cost of Care
Hi, My name is Jenn. My parents have been happily married to each other for over 47 years. In February of 2021 my mom whom we call "Gumby", was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometrial Cancer. It has been an uphill battle to say the least. It took me four months to move my parents in with me from Texas to Ohio so that my mother could get the best care available. In that time, I have had to take a leave of absence from work to help with her care. I would like to raise money for them to help cover costs that have occurred throughout this transition, and with a big surgery on the way, the costs are only going to grow. My dad has finally retired (don't get excited, he only retired to be able to be with mom not because he was financially ready). Neither of them are the type of people who ask for help in any form, so I am setting up this go fund me because I know it will help. If you could only see how much love is between the two of them, you would know that each day with my mom is a blessing for my father. I know they feel like they are a burden to my family and I, and I hate that for them. I wouldn't want them to be anywhere else. I worry about the state of the Healthcare system in our nation. Her entire time in Texas was just unspeakably bad. 4 Surgeries in 2 month's on the same thing, and it's still not 100% (colostomy), but having her here now with me, I see that the care is better. I want to help them as much as possible. Please donate if you can. I'm not sure how any of this stuff works, but I am hoping that every little bit will keep them financially stable and cover the ever mounting Medical Bills. I would like to raise as much as I can by the end of September . She will be going into Surgery in September or October receiving a full hysterectomy, partial colon removal, partial bladder removal (maybe depending on scans) and lymph node removal as well. She is on her second round of three treatments of Chemo (Taxol) and has started getting nerve damage. They wanted to push out the surgery but due to the reaction to the chemo, they want to move it up to July and now due to a blood clot in her jugular veins they have pushed it back. She's exhausted. frustrated and feels as though everything is her fault. They don't qualify for state aid because my dad "made too much" last year. It all just sucks and I just want to fix it. I have never seen two people love each other more than my parents. They are High School sweethearts. I don't know if anyone will see this, or if anyone will want to give, I just wanted to give this a chance to try and help them. I love my parents, and I would do anything for them.
