Help with Ginny’s life saving surgery

My best friend Min and her son Conrad were faced with an impossible decision this week when their much loved dog, Ginny fell suddenly and critically ill.

Ginny was diagnosed with GDV, an extremely serious condition, fatal if left untreated. Emergency surgery was needed to save Ginny’s life. Ginny made it through the operation but is now struggling to make a full recovery. She is still in hospital and fighting for her sweet life.

Those that know Min, Conrad & Ginny know that Ginny is a fundamental and irreplaceable part of their family unit. Ginny is a constant source of joy, love and companionship; a massive part of their everyday and all of their adventures. In a single parent household, Ginny has played an integral part in little Conrad’s life. We desperately want to keep this beautiful family together and get Ginny home.

Obviously this has been incredibly distressing for Min and Conrad. In addition to the overwhelming grief and concern of trying to save Ginny’s life, they now have to deal with the stress of paying her medical bills.

If you have any experience with vets you know that the cost of treatments can be near prohibitive. On Wednesday Ginny’s vet bill totalled $5500. Since that time, and still ongoing, it is costing an additional $700 per each 12 hour period that Ginny remains in hospital. The exact total of Ginny’s treatment remains unknown but could potentially be more than $8000.

I have started this campaign to try to help relieve some of the stress faced by Min and Conrad.
