Hello my name is Misty and on 10/10/25 my mother passed away at Lakeland regional hospital.
On 10/4I drove the 10hrs from AL to FL to spend a week with my mother because she was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer that was metastatic and spread to her lungs as well. She also had blood clots in her lungs. I was supposed to take my mother back to AL with me and get her into the best cancer treatment centers AL had to offer and so I could care for my mother while she went through chemotherapy. My mother was released from the hospital on 10/4 when I got here and picked her up. She had been sick and not feeling well... But that was expected since she had her first round of chemotherapy on 10/2/as the days went by Mom got sicker and couldn't keep any down. I convinced her to go back to the hospital on 10/9 to get checked out since she hasn't been able to eat or drink anything. They admitted her due to her developing a UTI as her white blood cell count was destroyed from the chemo. I spent 13 hrs with her until they got her a room. The nurse came in and told me they were taking my mother to her room. I left and came back to where we were staying with her friends to check on my dog and make sure everything was ok at the house and I was gonna go back up there with her. Mom called me as they were wheeling her to her room and I asked her if she wanted me to come back. She told me no that she would see me tomorrow and she loved me. Not even 10 minutes later I got a call from the hospital that they were performing CPR on my mother. Mom flatlined for 13 minutes they said and they put her in a sedated come. The next day they informed me that my mother was already showing signs of brain damage from coding for that long and that if she pulled through it she wouldn't be the same. At 4pm on 10/10 mothers body gave out on her and she passed away.
Her life insurance policy was not mature enough to actually claim a policy and they are basically returning what she invested into it. $269.83 is no where near enough to cover my mother being laid to rest with her cremation services.
It pains me to have to ask for help to lay my mother to rest. Any little bit would help and it is so greatly appreciated
