Kyon DéShon Nichols passed away peacefully on October 6, 2021 after spending 2 months in ICU. He was only 8 months old. On August 8, 2021, his mother’s birthday, he went to sleep and did not wake up. He took a deep breath that startled his father and he woke up to find Kyon turning blue and not breathing. CPR was performed and he was revived but unfortunately suffered multiple seizures and never recovered from his injuries. His parents were forced to make the worst decision any parent can make, whether or not to pull him off of the ventilators and wait for a miracle or to allow him to live the rest of his life this way. The doctors believed there wasn’t enough brain activity for Kyon to survive very long and that if he stayed on the vents, he would never be able to walk, talk, or breathe on his own. His parents decided that his quality of life would suffer and his vents were removed 3 weeks later. He began to breath slightly on his own and comfort care measures were put in place. His family has been waiting and praying that maybe he would pull through. God has decided to call baby Ky home.
Kyon loved spending time with his big brother Tayvian. He enjoyed watching cartoons on Disney Junior with his grandma and cuddling with his mom, dad and brother. He was so full of life and always trying to stand up, laugh and trying to talk and make sounds. He didn’t know any words, but he sure could talk your ears off! He was an absolute bright light for his family. He completed their world and now that he is gone, there is an everlasting void. But we will always remember him and he will always be in our hearts.
Kyon is survived by his mother Tianna, his father Deyonte and his brother Tayvian. He was also loved by his grandparents and lots of aunties, uncles and cousins.
As the organizer of this fundraiser, I am asking for donations to help the family with funeral costs and to also help with any medical costs not covered by insurance. This fundraiser has been approved by the family and all monies collected will go directly to them. Anything helps.
Lastly, please say a prayer for Kyon and his family. This is not going to be easy for them and Tayvian is having a hard time adjusting and understanding where his best friend went.
