Help with funeral costs for Dianne M. Herring

Hi. My name is Nicole Herring, Dianne's niece. I hate asking for hand outs but my aunt passed away yesterday, February 22, 2023 and we're going to need help with funeral costs as the life insurance policy she had, lapsed and closed in 2016.

Dianne was hospitalized on Thursday, February 9th after feeling fatigued for a few weeks, by this time she was turning yellow which indicated an issue with her liver. She knew she had a fatty liver and some cirrhosis but nothing prepared us for the following few days. We were told she was in liver and kidney failure and was transferred from Good Samaritan Hospital to Westchester Medical on Tuesday, February 14. On Thursday, February 16 we found out she had end stage 4 liver and lung cancer. (She never smoked or drank!) As we prepared to have her come home on hospice this week, things took a turn and on Tuesday, February 21st we were told she had hours to days left. She wouldn't be coming home, she wasn't stable enough for transport. The hospital gave us permission to spend the night and over the course of the next 20 hrs, she declined. She took her last breath while holding my hand around 10:50am yesterday morning.

My world is shattered. My heart beyond broken. Dianne was more than just an aunt to me, she was my second mother for my whole life. She watched me from the time I was 6 weeks old until I was 16. But we always remained close, talking on the phone everyday, seeing her at least once a week.

She retired in 2011 and has lived on her social security and pension. She still had a mortgage on the trailer she lived in in Nanuet so after her bills she never had much left but made it work for herself.

Unfortunately with this being the case, this leaves nothing to help her final costs. Dianne had no husband or biological children, just her furbabies.
