Help with Funeral Costs for Cody Akoar

On December 29, 2020 the Akoar family received heart-wrenching news; Their son and brother, Garang‘Cody’ Akoar was found tragically murdered alongsideone of his closest friends, Kuanyliet ‘Kaun’ Kogalt.

Cody was a son, brother, friend, and so much more. Many people who knew Cody knew he was free-spirited and energetic. His presence lit up a room. Cody was the type of person who always found something to smile about. He had an infectious smile that made anyone around him smile. Cody was the type of person who believed in the motto ‘instead of waiting for something to be happy about, you look for something to be happy about’.

Cody was well known for his talents and passion for basketball, most importantly love for his family and, friends. Anyone who knew Cody had the opportunity to get to know his personable and loving personality that made a lasting impression on everyone who he crossed paths with.  He was funny and strived to always make us laugh.

The Akoar family has been robbed of their son and brother. Cody was only 20 years old and the second youngest out of 7 children. His life was cut too short. Cody is survived by his father Deng Akoar, mother Amok Atak, his brothers Santino, Dimo, Marao, Machok, Malek, and sister Adut Akoar.

No one can be prepared for the loss and tragedy of a family member, but even more so, a child. Knowing you’ll never be able to see, speak to, hear from or hold your child again is unimaginable.

Due to Cody’s sudden death, his family is facing financial hardships. This GoFundMe has been made to help Cody’s family cover funeral costs.

No amount of money releases the pain our family is feeling, but any amount of monetary support would help to ease some of the financial stress surrounding Cody’s funeral expenses while his family tries to wrap their minds around what happened to him.

Anything we can do to help will be a great blessing to him and his family.
