We want to give our dad, Leo Eugene Stack III, a beautiful sendoff. We are estimating the cost of the funeral and travel to be around $7000, and we're struggling to come up with the money we need to pay for it. So in lieu of flowers, we'd be very grateful for any donations.
Leo Eugene Stack III was loved by his four children who have survived him. He was a true patriot giving 4 years of his life to the Army from 1976 to 1979 in the 1st infantry, working in chemical warfare. From a young age, Leo always had a passion for drawing and art and was a phenomenal artist and sign painter who had his signs and artwork on businesses throughout the local area.
Leo also had a love for his community and spent many hours volunteering at local nursing homes, schools and colleges.
People who knew him will remember him as a man who was always thinking and working on a new idea, invention or theory.
More recently, Leo was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which came as a huge blow and affected many areas of his life, especially his art. It was determined that he acquired Parkinson's due to the cleaning of gas masks in the military, which had been exposed to agent orange.
On June 6, we were notified that while Leo was traveling out of state towards a medical university that offered experimental research on Parkinson's disease, he was killed in a tragic car accident in Louisiana. The accident occurred on June 3rd in the wee hours of the morning where he died at the scene and his body was taken to a nearby funeral home while they tried to contact next of kin.
This came as a huge shock and we are still struggling to pick up the pieces. We are all devastated and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service and we are reaching out to friends, family and the community for help. Leo had no prior arrangements, funds or contingencies in place for an event like this. However, due to the fast nature and time restraints, we are struggling to develop the funds needed to provide even the simplest service.
Please consider donating as we would be grateful and thankful for any heartful contributions, and any amount would truly be appreciated and help our family during this difficult time.
It would also mean a lot if you could share this funeral fundraiser with others.
Thank you so much for your consideration, and may God bless you richly.
We are considering having the memorial service tentatively on July ninth.
