My wonderful husband Jeff Gagnon, has had the dream of becoming a firefighter since he was a kid. He has always been hardworking and dedicated to helping people, wherever he was employed. We have always struggled financially, but made it work over the years with retail jobs. But, retail jobs just don't pay enough, and make it difficult to further one's education. Jeff has always wanted a job where he could help people. His journey towards that started a few years ago, when he went back to school in his 30's, and got his EMT certification. He was lucky enough to get some financial aid to help with school. After that, Jeff found a job with an ambulance company, and he was finally doing what he loved; helping people. But sadly, the company laid some people off due to financial problems, and my husband was one of them. This happened right before the holidays last year. Since then, Jeff has been working retail, at a grocery store to keep him, myself and my son afloat. He still knew that becoming a firefighter would be his ultimate goal. Jeff was accepted into a local Fire Academy, and we are all beyond excited that his dream will become reality soon! The costs of the Academy are piling up, however, and we need your help so Jeff can pay for uniforms, turnout gear, lab fees, books, etc. In the end, this will benefit the public, because I know Jeff will be a caring, hardworking, and loyal firefighter for whatever city he ends up serving.
