Hello everyone,
My friend Joy has been through something I never thought was possible. After a few days of what she thought was maybe a cyst pain on her backside, she was sent immediately to emergency from urgent care because the level of what we thought was a cyst.

Once in the emergency room, Joy found out she was in sepsis and likely had an unknown infection. After surgery, they found out she had a necrotizing soft tissue infection. Joy was then put into the ICU due to not only the severity of the infection but also the fact that she was in DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis). Over the next 3 days, Joy had to get surgery after surgery to get all of the infection out.

After a week in the hospital, Joy was able to get her sugars down and is now recovering at home with a wound vac that causes its own pain and struggles, as well as needing to handle a brand new diagnosis of being type 2 diabetic and trying to handle her insulin and blood sugars.

Joy, as the main provider for her and her husband, is now on unpaid medical leave while trying to see if there is short-term disability. Until that can be figured out, there are significant bills, including rent, utilities, and mounting medical bills coming that are going to be difficult if not impossible to afford.

Anything donated will go directly to bills to keep a roof over their head, food, supplies for healing , and car payments to keep their car so Joy can get to and from wound care every other day.

Joy is one of the kindest, most loving people I know. She has had a rough few years, and this has been another hit to her beautiful soul.
