Help with expenses while out of work

Friends,
As some of you know, I spent eight days in the hospital this past August. I hadn’t been feeling well for a couple of months, and thought I was just tired. It turned out to be a combination of serious ailments that require regular visits to see several specialists for the heart, kidneys, diabetes, and eyes. It has been, and will continue to be, a long road to recovery.
I have been unable to return to work, and it isn’t clear when I will be able to work again. I was a “substitute” postal employee, which means I didn’t have my own route and didn’t qualify for vacation/sick pay or healthcare coverage, even though I often exceeded full time hours. That said, I was very fortunate to be eligible for Medicare. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a hard worker who can be counted on (when I’m healthy). I can’t wait to get back earning a paycheck. I never thought I’d ever be in this position.
Today, I’m humbly asking my friends and family if they can spare any funds to help me get back on my feet. My condition is much improved from August. While I had no credit card debt going into this, I have exhausted my savings on day-to-day living expenses, and they still have to be paid (rent, food, car repairs, etc.). In return for whatever generosity and compassion is provided to me, you can count on me to “pay it forward” when I hear of others in my unfortunate predicament in the future.
Thank you all for the prayers and healing thoughts, and the many of you who have reached out via phone, text, pm, and dm. It is humbling, has helped my well-being, and I appreciate it immensely. Without you, I would be in a pretty dark place right now. I am lucky to be here, and I hope to make a full and healthy recovery. I also want to personally thank Jan, who’s been a rock for me during my recovery.
Peace,
Jed
