Help with expenses, waiting for heart transplant

Hi my name is David Bertrand from Shelburne, Vermont by way of the Northeast Kingdom. I am the proud father of three amazing people and step father to another two beautiful souls. For the past decade I have started and run a design build firm which now my oldest son Crew is taking over and doing an amazing job at.

 

I have been diagnosed with something called Amylydosis which is causing my heart to fail. I have been super blessed by God to land here at Tufts Medical in Boston where I am getting the most amazing care. I have been approved to be on the list for a new heart. I most likely will need to stay here in the hospital until one becomes available. I am told the wait may be about a year. I am in no pain and feel at peace and certainly feel God's presence in keeping fear and suffering away.

 

The lovely lady in the photo next to me is my partner in crime Kristin. We have a blended family which I love completely. She has been such a blessing in my life helping me through this. She is traveling here at least two nights a week and my sons visit at least one night a week which so helps the passing of time. I am strong and ready as I can be to the year ahead.

 

I have been out of work for 6 months now and money is super tight. The hotel costs are steep and eating meals out is not cheap.   I am on the wait list for a few non profit family housing but told it will be months. I would like to be able to rent a small no frills apartment for my family to stay in. I also have many other expenses related to this sickness that combined with 6 months of no income has depleted my savings. Thus I am humbled to try and raise money from Gofundme. Anything you can do would be most graciously appreciated.
