As you all know by now, my mom Nina was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. She is on the long road to recovery. Anyone who knows her knows she is very independent. Any and all financial assistance will help cover bills during this time.
Here is her story:
Hello all!
Ok so what the heck happened!? well,
I didn't want to get a head of myself so I kept it a little bit private until I felt we knew all the facts .
I haven't been feeling well for a while so I stopped into the urgent care near my house Monday.
The Doc said he felt I needed to go to the ER as soon as possible and please do not to put it off.
It was the way he said it that made me think I should just go.
Once there a battery of tests started. Very soon the doctor return saying I have a lemon size mass on my cecum.
Stage 3 colon cancer.
At this point I've been admitted and more tests begin. As surprised as myself and the Doctor were my colonoscopy from 4 years ago had not shown any warning signs.
We found out Tuesday it has NOT spread to my lungs. They are clear and in very good shape! Thursday we found out it had not spread to any other parts of my body and on Friday the mass was robotically.
Sore is an understatement.
I'm starting to get up and move around now but very much tied to the walls and pumps for a while still.
I have 5 sets of staples on my tummy and they removed 2 1/2 ft of intestines.
I've been up and moving around but I am not leaving the hospital anytime soon.
I'm staying positive but, will definitely be here another week at least and probably longer and surely I'll be bored.
I'm currently in room 538 at the Main Methodist Hospital
On Floyd Curl in San Antonio.
The part that's starting to scare me the most now is losing all control.
This will definitely put me into a bit of a tight spot but, I am mostly worried about feeding and caring for the kitties and other pets while paying a few bills.
