It is with great sadness that we appeal to family, friends, and the public for help with costs and expenses related to a violent attack committed against Michael Harrington.

On Sunday Dec 21st at 7am CST, Michael was stabbed in the neck and chest by an as of yet undisclosed assailant in his townhouse in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit is currently conducting a full investigation.

There were witnesses, who immediately began life saving efforts. By the time the authorities arrived, Michael's heart had stopped and he had been deprived of oxygen for a significant amount of time.

Medics were able to restart his heart, and an emergency surgery was performed at Winnipeg Health Sciences Center to repair a damaged carotid artery. Sadly, this surgery was not successful.

Mike's wounds from his injuries and the surgery clotted, which then spread into the right side of his brain. As of late evening Dec 22nd, the right side of his brain is dead.

My mother and I, along with our spouses are en route to Winnipeg, but we live over 2,000 km away. By the time we arrive, doctors expect he will be completely brain dead. He remains on life support until our arrival.
