Help with Eviction and Relocation Costs
Donation protected
My name is Alphi Hart and I am hoping to get some support as I am facing some financial difficulties right now.
To be transparent, I work full time and I make a living wage. My two adult daughters live with me and I am the primary breadwinner in the household. Like many people now, I am facing financial hardship due to medical expenses, inflation, and a few poor decisions regarding friends and family. The biggest impact has been medical and inflation costs. I am a Type 2 Diabetic, my adult daughter is a Type 1 Diabetic, has no thyroid due to her untreatable Graves’ Disease, has Adult Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Clinical Depression, and is Bipolar. She does not qualify for medical through the state or government because she lives with me and they use my income for her qualification. My youngest daughter has ADD, severe asthma, and clinical depression. Both have spent time in inpatient care for their depression. I was also diagnosed with hypokalemia (low potassium) which is contributing to my fainting problems.
With the cost of prescriptions, doctor appointments, special diet requirements, and medical supplies I have been having an extremely hard time keeping up. My entire household was hit with COVID, RSV, and the Flu in late November 2023. This sent everything out of control. I attempted to make a payment arrangement with my landlord and it was denied. There is no KERA funding through the state of KS, none through the government, and the only local agency offering aid is backlogged on appointments. I would have been able to make up the past due amount in 30 days, but that was not good enough. I went to court to fight the eviction and was experiencing low blood sugars the morning of the trial and felt my blood sugar dropping during the trial. I was not able to represent myself fully, cannot recall the full extent of what occurred that morning as I passed out once I sat down towards the end of the trial. I put in a motion for reconsideration as I was taken by EMS from the courthouse to the ER where I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. Even after presenting medical evidence to the courts, the Judge felt that my “fainting” was fabricated as I “maintained prim and proper balance in a roller chair while thrashing around and saying “hi””. Although this chair had arms and the EMS staff told me that I was sweaty, cold/clammy to the touch and had low pressure readings.
I am seeking assistance with the cost of my eviction, the cost to relocate to a new home, and moving costs. I know everyone is struggling now, but if you can find it in your heart to help me and my family find our footing again, it would be appreciated more than you would ever know.
If you or someone you know suffers from Diabetes and has had problems with their blood sugar, you know how it impacts daily living (last A1C was 12.6, next reading on 3/18 and I have been experiencing bouts of hypoglycemia almost daily since 2/1). If you know someone who has family that is dealing with various types of mental health conditions, you know how it impacts daily living. The expenses surrounding addressing and supporting these issues can be overwhelming. Your donations will go exclusively towards addressing our housing needs. In the event there is extra, it will go towards paying bills or be donated to local charities to assist with the housing needs in the local community. A full accounting of donations will be posted to verify your donations are being used appropriately.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your consideration and any support you can provide.
