During a recent routine checkup, doctors discovered a mass in EvanMarie Hickman’s abdomen. After a CT scan on the evening of September 25, Ennie and Cana received an unexpected and urgent call from the hospital instructing them to return immediately to the emergency room. Since then, their world has been turned upside down with a high risk Neuroblastoma diagnosis which will require treatment over the next 15 or so months. This is, of course, a heavy and uncertain moment for their whole family, one filled with deep concern, many questions, and the weight of the unknown. Yet even now, there is profound hope. The Hickmans trust that God is near, that His love for EvanMarie is real, and that He is already at work in ways seen and unseen. They also draw strength from the love and prayers of their community, from all of you walking with them through this.
Even with answers and treatment plans, so much remains unclear and the journey could take many different turns. One reality is already present though: medical bills, unexpected expenses, and loss of income To help ease that burden and allow Ennie and Cana to focus entirely on caring for their daughter, we invite you, if you are able, to support them financially via Go Fund Me. The fundraising goal may change as more is known, but every gift helps them breathe a little easier in this difficult season.
Most importantly, we ask for what they need most: prayer. Let us join together as a community of faith and “storm heaven” on EvanMarie’s behalf, especially through the intercession of Blessed Stanley Rother. May God’s mercy surround her, may His healing hand rest upon her, and may His peace sustain Ennie, Cana, and their entire family. Even in this moment of deep concern, we place our trust in the One who loves EvanMarie even more than we do, and we believe that He is at work.
