Help with Esti's life-saving kidney transplant surgery
Donación protegida
Hello, my name is Annabelle. I live in Sydney, Australia, and my mum Esti, who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia, requires life-saving surgery in her efforts to fight Chronic Kidney Disease.
We are deeply hoping that through the efforts of the community here, we can crowdfund in order to support the complex and expensive process of seeking a kidney donor, undergoing the organ transplant surgery, and supporting Mum's rest and recovery needs post-surgery, which are estimated to take 6-8 weeks.
In October 2023, my mum Esti was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease at Stage 4, with kidney function at 21%.
This was a shock to all of us, as Mum has lead an incredibly health-dedicated lifestyle, including eating healthy, regular exercise, and taking great care of her body and spirit.
Unfortunately, despite efforts by the doctors and by Esti, as of this week, 27 August 2024, her kidney function has dropped to 10% which is Stage 5 CKD, or End Stage of Kidney Failure.
As efforts over the last 11 months to reverse her declining kidney function have failed, this leads to the urgent necessity of finding a kidney donor, and undergoing organ transplant surgery.
This process is not easy, as my mum is an Indonesian citizen, and does not have access to the Australian medical system as I do. My father is Australian and my mum is Indonesian.
Furthermore, Indonesia does not have a kidney transplant program, forcing us to travel elsewhere to undertake this urgent life-saving procedure.

My mum has been a ferocious fighter through every adversity in her life, and has done so with immense positivity and courage, all the while working full time running her own property business, relocating expatriates from every corner of the globe into Indonesia over more than 18 years.
She has survived breast cancer, divorce, and raising two children, and has always lived in an open, authentic, and healthy way.
She leaves an undeniable mark on everyone she comes across, be that through her work or in her social circles globally.
We are deeply hoping that in this urgent time of dire need, the community that Esti has been a huge part of across the world will come together to support her in this big, scary step.
The cost of the transplant alone will be around $75,000 USD, which is over $110,000 AUD.
We will travel so she can undertake the 3-5 hour surgery. The requested amount includes the return flights, in addition to finding appropriate accommodation to stay there for 4+ weeks of recovery before Mum can return to Jakarta.
It does not cover the time taken off for Esti from running her own relocations business, the ongoing recovery costs, and the anti-rejection medications that Esti will need to be on for the rest of her life following the surgery. It also does not cover the ongoing expenses of Mum's rent at home, and having her two dogs Henry and Diva looked after while she is away for surgery.
I will be travelling from Sydney, Australia to be there with my mum through the surgery and recovery process, and will be taking unpaid leave to do so.
Any funds that go over the requested amount will go towards these parts of the recovery process.
From my small family of myself, my Mum, and my brother, thank you so much for your love, care, and support in ensuring my mum can get the life-saving treatment that she needs to continue being the beacon of light and joy that she offers to so many people.
