Help With Dog Boarding While I’m In The Hospital
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Megan Sandmann. I am going to have two brain surgeries in 2024 that will hopefully cure my epilepsy. My two dogs are going to need boarded while I am hospitalized.
I had receptive (epilepsy) surgery in 2003 with good results.
In September 2021 I blacked out while driving and totaled my car while having a seizure. I need the upcoming surgeries to potentially regain my right to drive.
I will first be going in on March 18th for intracranial monitoring to identify exactly where the seizures are coming from. I will be in the hospital for up to a month being monitored.
Six weeks later, I will return to have receptive surgery to remove the area of my brain causing the seizures. The length of my stay after that surgery will depend on how well my recovery goes.
Because of their personalities and abusive backgrounds my two dogs, Vera and Cody, will be happiest and safest at the kennel that they have gone to previously when I’ve been in the hospital.
I am on disability because of my health problems. Just the first surgery and hospital stay could cost about $1,000 per dog if I am in for the entire month. I don’t know how long the second stay will be.
Both dogs are “foster fails” through Maggie’s Mission Rescue. They help me out with some of Cody’s costs per our arrangement when I adopted him. If I am able to raise the funds to cover Vera’s boarding I’d like to donate at least some back to Maggie’s to help cover Cody’s boarding.
Any help would be much appreciated. Vera, Cody, and I are very thankful!
