After 21 years together (with a three-year break in the middle), Wesley and I have made the difficult but thoughtful decision to separate. It is the right decision for us, and we remain committed to co-parenting our two sons with care and respect, and to preserving the long friendship we’ve shared for most of our lives.
For the emotional well-being of everyone involved—especially our boys—I need to establish a separate home as soon as possible. I’ve been approved for an apartment that would allow us to stay close, keep the boys in their current schools, and maintain as much stability as possible during this transition.
The apartment is offering a time-sensitive incentive of two months of free rent (January and February), which would make this move financially viable for me as I navigate this major life change. In order to secure it, I must sign the lease by December 30 and pay a $2,000 security deposit. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to those funds on such short notice.
I’m grateful to have steady work lined up from January through May, but because this transition was not planned, I haven’t had the opportunity to prepare for the upfront costs of moving.
So many of you have already shown incredible generosity this year—especially in supporting the creation of ME:2 and helping me bring that project across the finish line. I hesitate to ask again, particularly so close to the holidays, but without help I will lose this opportunity to create a stable, safe next chapter for my sons and me.
If you’re able to contribute in any amount, please know how deeply grateful I am. If you’re not, sharing this or simply holding us in your thoughts means just as much. Thank you for being part of my community and for supporting us during this tender moment.
With love and gratitude,
Tommy
