David, my older brother, had suddenly collapsed late at night (from what I understand, I wasn't there.) And was rushed to the ER. The doctors there performed a CATSCAN and immediately sent him to the hospital to have emergency surgery done. He needed what they called an "Aortic Dissection", in which they place grafts over certain arteries that have bursted. It was a 7 hour surgery. 

His doctors had alot of hope for him. This type of surgery is usually done on older folk so he had his youth on his side. On top of that he received the surgery quite well, no complications came up and he was on his way to recovery.

However after three days in the ICU, his heart failed three times in a row. Each time they brought him back. His health continued to fail afterwards. We believe he had irreversible brain damage from lack of oxygen. On top of this his liver had failed entirely and he was on a dialysis machine for his kidneys. Despite all this he was supposed to wake up but never did. The doctors gave us a choice. We can either keep trying, put him on DNR or pull him off of life support. Under careful consideration and an 8 day battle, David was finally allowed to rest. He was loved so dearly by his family and friends. His loss is devastating to all those around him. He will be missed.
