My sweet husband, David Sanders, had a massive stroke in December, 2022. He has had several stints in the intensive care unit as well as ongoing hospitalizations. We have struggled with the help of family and close friends to cover our costs as he is still in the hospital and will continue as an inpatient for the near future. We are trying to keep him where he will continue to receive great rehabilitative care, but he will need to transition home at some point. When that happens, he will need additional care that I can not provide by myself. I suffer from a spinal disease so although the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak. We're trying to cover these costs -- current, ongoing and upcoming -- and give David the best possible opportunity to continue to improve and have some semblance of a life outside a hospital setting.Any and all assistance is highly appreciated as we work to provide for David's continued care. Some expenses we are incurring are day-to-day medical costs from his eight months of care as a stroke patient, some accommodation for a wheelchair transport in our van, durable medical equipment, home modifications, and a couple of hours a day for in-home care to help with bathing, dressing, etc. Some of these costs are immediate and some are on the very near horizon. For those of you who know David well, you know that he is energetic and caring, and would drop whatever he’s doing to help anyone. To David, a stranger is just a friend he hasn’t met yet. Now he needs help. Neither of us are comfortable asking for help, financial or otherwise, but we have reached that point We thank you for any assistance you can provide and for keeping David in your thoughts and prayers as he continues along his journey.
