Hi guys
my partner Losh and I are currently overseas for work until mid April and have friends and family looking after our precious animals. While we’ve been away, our 6 year old cat Darwin has developed an abscess in his mouth that is potentially cancerous that needs to be operated on, we have been quoted $3k for this surgery that will be done on March 22. We also got a puppy in August, Junebug, when my mom rescued a dog from Kathmandu Nepal without realizing she was pregnant, we decided to keep one of the puppies. We were prepared for the costs of a new puppy and had her shots and spay done before we left for the trip mid January. Shortly after we left she began to be lame on one leg and not able to put weight on it for most of the day, she needed to see a specialist who told us she has luxating patellas and potentially a torn acl that will need to be surgically repaired. The quote for this surgery before post op checkups and aftercare/physio is $7k. Her surgery will be the 21 of April. Additionally in December Darwin developed a rare case of anemia which required a blood transfusion that we had to take him from Toronto to an animal hospital in Guelph to receive, which also ended up costing us an additional $7k. He is on meds for the foreseeable future that are also very costly. We unfortunately do not have pet insurance. We are devastated that this is happening at this time, that we cannot be home with our animals as it is not financially logical or easy for us to come home early. We have maxed out the resources available to us to cover the costs of these procedures. At this point all of our savings have been spent. We don’t know where else to go but here to ask for help. Thanks in advance for any compassion and understanding, or even taking the time to share as we know this is a difficult time for everyone.
Del, Losh (Darwin and Junebug)
