On Friday, September 25, 2020 our sweet Dakota was born. What started out as the most joyous day for his parents and family quickly turned into a fearful day.

Dakota was diagnosed with c-CMV and micro lissencephaly. c-CMV caused him to have microcephaly amongst other issues such as feeding. Dakota had surgery to insert a feeding tube into his stomach. Lissencephaly, which means smooth brain caused him to not be able to swallow. Due to this he was on oxygen and had to be suctioned often to prevent him from choking on his own saliva. Lissencephaly also causes the brain to not develop past 3-5 months old. Dakota spent a lot of his short life in the hospital.

Dakota was so special to everyone he met. His little smile just brightened anyones day. His family loved him fiercely and we always will!

Dakota’s parents devoted their lives to his short life. Due to him needing 24hr care, Ashley was unable to work. They live off of TJ’s income and do not have any extra to pay for funeral expenses and the surmounting medical bills.

Dakota passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the young age of 7 1/2 months old. Due to his condition he didn’t qualify for a life insurance policy because of his pre existing conditions.
