My ex-husband and I shared a long history together, and when he became seriously ill with leukemia, diabetes, and congestive heart failure, he came to live with me because he could no longer care for himself. For eight months, I balanced my full-time retail job with caring for him, making sure he was as comfortable as possible during his final days. On December 18th, 2025, he passed away, leaving a void in my life and a series of unexpected challenges.

Today, after finally receiving his death certificate, I learned that he had no basic retirement life insurance from Delta Airlines, the company he dedicated 35 years of his life to. The company claims he didn't enroll in the insurance, but their website states it should have been automatic. This news was devastating, as I had been counting on that support to help cover his final expenses. Now, I am left with the responsibility of paying for his cremation and other costs associated with his passing, and I simply do not have the means to do so on my own.
