Our dear friend Keryn had a disc prolapse in her back which has compressed the nerve to her left leg. The injury left her unable to walk, sit or stand for seven weeks in September and October of 2025. Although the pain has reduced and she is able to walk again she has been advised by a neurosurgeon to undergo surgery to restore proper nerve function, reduce numbness and increase muscle strength in her foot and leg.

Keryn has been advised to have the surgery through private practice instead of the NHS due to its tremendously long wait time. The sooner it is done the better the outcome may be for her nerve function.

The back surgery Keryn needs is called a micro-discectomy and this will be carried out by a very experienced neurosurgeon and is planned for the 30th January 2026. Following the surgery, intensive physio will also be required.
