Help As Drs. Fix Baby Josh's Heart
Donation protected
Hi guys!!
My sister, Rachael, and my brother-in-law, John, need your help. Married for six years, we are thrilled for them as they will finally be adding to their family. They are expecting a son, Joshua, in July. Unfortunately, while family and friends brainstormed names and pinned nursery decor on Pinterest, Rachel and John got news no new parents wants to hear - something was not right on the ultrasound.
They recently found out that their sweet baby, Joshua, has an extremely rare congenital heart defect. Right now, the doctors think it’s something called Truncus Arteriosus with Interrupted Aortic Arch. Truncus Arteriosus by itself, only affects 1 in every 33,000 births. Interrupted Aortic Arch affects just 3 in every 1 million births.
Josh will need open heart surgery within the first few weeks of his life to reconstruct his heart. He will most likely need subsequent surgeries every few years, into his adulthood. The plans are still being made and there are still more tests and scans to come, but with what we know now, working will be difficult. The hospital where Joshua will recieve his life saving care is in Pittsburgh, over three hours from their home. They will need to stay close by until they get the go ahead to bring him home.
Rachael and John will need this money for housing, as well as living expenses, while not being able to work. They’ve also already accumulated at least $7,000 worth of medical bills not covered by insurance, with more to come
Our hope is to raise money so that Rachel and John will be able to focus solely on their sweet new baby boy and the care that he’s going to need, without having to worry about money and paying the bills.
We will be updating this the more we find out! Any little bit will help! Thank you!
