Help with proper memorial for our dad, Lensey Harvell
Donation protected
Updated: It is so hard to type this out, but on December 9th, we had to say goodbye to our Dad, Clyde 'Lensey' Harvell. Our hearts are broken. We now have to shift focus to having a beautiful, fitting memorial service to honor his life and give him a proper send off. Dad had expressed to me his wishes to be cremated were something to happen to him, which we are honoring. Thank you so very much for those who have donated so far. It will now go to a memorial gathering and to cover some of the lodging expenses for his hospital stay. Your help allowed us to be close to him, which is invaluable and will be forever appreciated. Thank you so much for the support.
Our Dad, Clyde 'Lensey' Harvell, is 58 years old, a father of 3 girls, a brother, and a friend.
On Tuesday, November 19th, he was brought to the ER at Atrium in Charlotte. He'd been having some difficulty for a couple of weeks with a few things that were thought to be related to pre-existing conditions and some mold exposure. Within an hour of arrival, his respiratory system crashed, and he had to be intubated.
Little did any of us know that initial testing would reveal the real problem. His heart is failing. Now that we know the seriousness of his health complications, we know how long a road to recovery will be. If his body is unable to recover enough to rehabilitate, we have some difficult decisions to make and responsibilities to handle.
At least one of us sisters has stayed in Charlotte all but one night since our Dad was admitted. His older sister has also been here, and I truly believe hearing our voices and knowing we are here is helping. During this time, we've been unable to work in order to be here for our Dad.
The truth is, we need help. With recovery and rehab, we will need to be able to be close by as often as possible, and it's over an hour's drive for each of us. Once out of rehab, we will be caring for him, and between food, appointments, and other needs, we will need help. If his condition worsens or things take a turn for the worse, we will need to take care of arrangements, and none of us has the means to do so.
Anything you're able to give will be solely used for travel, basic needs, and aftercare related to our Dad's medical situation. It will be beyond appreciated and make a huge difference in his journey to recovery and/or our journey navigating such a difficult situation. Thank you sincerely for listening.
