My name is Jennifer, and the beautiful, grumpy looking fuzzball in the photographs is Circe. Circe is a ten year old American longhair. Probably. She won't tell us, so we had to guess.
The week of July 4th Circe became ill, unable to keep down food or water. With no improvement after 48 hours I took her to the emergency vet out of concern. Circe had a bowel obstruction when she was younger, causing similar symptoms and leading to partial necrosis of her intestine and requiring a bowel resection. Because the symptoms were similar and a GI blockage is time sensitive and can lead to an abrupt decline I made the difficult decision to take her to an emergency vet rather than wait for a family practice to be open and able to schedule surgery.
The good news is that Circe is recovering now, sitting with me happily and pleading with me to take her cone off. While I'm delighted that she's on track for a full recovery, the costs have put me in significant debt which will wipe out most of my meager savings, which is why I'm asking for your help.
I understand that there are countless people in desperate need right now, and this is an enormous ask. The four thousand dollars we are asking for with this fundraiser will go directly towards her surgery bill and aftercare (medicine and prescription food). If you donate you will be helping to ensure Circe (and her owner) remain housed and fed, and that I can continue to provide for her for her next ten years.
Thank you, dear reader, for reading our story. If you're in any way moved by our plight but don't feel comfortable donating we understand, and hope your money finds its way to someone who needs it more than we do. It means the world to me (and I'm sure to her, though she's still not talking) that you took the time to hear us out.
