Help with Christian Yerena's Expenses

Donation protected
Christian Yerena (23 years old) went home early from work on the afternoon of, Tuesday February 8th as he suddenly wasn't feeling well. Vanessa took his temperature, and it was 105 so they immediately took him to the Emergency Room at Salem Hospital. After assessing his health, they decided to admit him. He was admitted that night into the Intensive Care Unit. By that evening, his health declined rapidly. He lost his muscle strength and could no longer stand alone. He was disoriented, combative, confused and wanted to leave. He thought he was at a hotel with Vanessa who wasn’t even in the room at the time. They ended up having to restrain him to the bed so that he couldn’t hurt himself and so that he couldn’t get up as he had 9 bags of medication porting into his IV that he was trying to rip out. They started to administer anti-anxiety meds so that he could relax and his body could rest. They did test after test and could tell by his blood work that he had a severe infection but couldn’t find the infection.

On Wednesday afternoon, they were finally able to get his temperature down and the continued with tests. He tested positive for COVID-19.

It wasn’t until the afternoon of Thursday that they determined he has a bacterial meningitis infection. They continued to keep him mostly sedated but he still had a rough time that evening with the continued confusion of what was happening. He was screaming and crying until they gave him stronger medicine to fully sedate him.

On Friday they had to intubate him as the medication for the infection could cause him to stop breathing. They took him for an MRI and continued testing. By the afternoon the doctors said that the MRI results showed that the infection was on the left side of his brain. At this time, the road to recovery looks longer than what was initially anticipated and could be “months” as quoted by his medical team.

Currently, the road to recovery time frame is unknown. Christian is a provider for his family, Vanessa Cortez and their recently born son, Jaxon (almost 5 months old). Christian is a wonderful family man and I know he wouldn’t want his family to struggle without his income. It is uncertain at this time what his medical bills will look like, but I know many of us would love to assist in lessening the financial burden of medical and home expenses that are incurred when a loved one falls ill so suddenly and unexpectedly.
Christian is a fighter and we know he is fighting hard for his family. He is an amazing boyfriend, father, son and friend. He would do anything to help anyone, let’s show him our love and let him know how much he is loved by helping his family during these tough times that he’s not able to be home with him family.

We ask that you if are unable to contribute monetarily, that you please pray for Christian's healing.
