On November 27th, I was admitted to the emergency room for sudden kidney failure for unknown reasons. After being on intense fluid therapy to flush my kidneys for 3 days, I was able to gain back 100% function. However, I developed fluid overload which caused a lung condition called atelectasis, which causes trouble breathing. My oxygen levels dropped by 20%, and I had to go on supportive oxygen to maintain consciousness and tissue oxygenation.
After both my lungs and kidneys were turning around for the better, I was still in a lot of pain. Several days of testing later, including ultrasounds, and highly specialized nuclear organ scans, they found that my gall bladder was no longer functioning, and I was a diabetic. Finally, on December 4th and over a week in the hospital, they removed my gall bladder and I was able to go home. Recovery will be a long road. There are also many medical bills due to all of the scans, daily lab work, IV medications, pain management, special diets, and surgery throughout my hospital stay.
During this time, my husband’s bank account was found to have fraud on it and was frozen until further notice. He had to take multiple days off of work to take care of me, and I am currently on medical leave until cleared by a doctor to work again - which will be several weeks. I also have my final semester of college coming up, and payment for that is due within the next few weeks.
With all of the complications and the unexpected, large medical expenses, we could greatly use financial help in moving forward over the next few weeks/months as the bills roll in. We have set up a meal train for those in-state who would like to drop off meals, but we are aware that many people out of state are wanting to help in any way they can. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.
